My Essential Make-Up Products
I thought I'd give you all an insight into my essential make-up products that I always reach for, so below are a list of products I always reach for whenever I do my make-up and what I like about them!
First product is.... Primers!
The face primers I've been reaching for the most lately have been the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser and the W7 Prime Magic Camera Ready primer:
Both of these primers are absolutely amazing, although I don't do a full face every day these definitely help the appearance of my make up whenever I do decide to do a full face. They blend so easily onto the skin and cover up any pores you have, giving a seamless finish when you apply foundation. With the W7 one I do find that I don't need to apply much of this as it blends so easily, it definitely has a smoother texture when applying compared to the Maybelline one. If you're looking for a cruelty free primer I definitely recommend the W7 Camera Ready one!
The eyelid primer I always use is the Avon Eye Primer in the shade Light Beige:
This has quite possibly been the best eye primer I've tried so far, I really like the fact it has a colour to it as this makes your eyeshadows pop even more than they would with a clear primer (in my opinion anyway). I've been using it ever since I got it back in December and still have lots left, good thing is that a little goes a long way. Just like any primer though it will need to be set with a powder, I use either a face powder or a neutral eyeshadow colour, it just makes your eyeshadows blend that little bit easier!
My second product is... Foundations!
For this selection I have two products, a BB cream and a foundation; these products are the NYC BB Creme 5in1 INSTANT MATTE in the shade 001 Light and the Rimmel MATCH PERFECTION in the shades 100 Ivory and 010 Light Porcelain (not pictured).
The NYC 5in1 BB Creme is a light coverage base, I use this for days when I don't really feel like wearing foundation or when I'm ill and just want my skin to look a little bit healthier. The colour is very pale but I do feel the medium shade would have been way too dark for my skin as I am fairly pale and 'Ivory' shades are usually my tan shades, the formula does dry matte so if you want to you don't have to wear powder with it. For me personally, I like to wear powder with it even though it does dry fairly matte, it doesn't feel dry on the skin but I feel powder and bronzer just gives me that extra colour I need to make my skin look a little healthier.
The Rimmel Match Perfection foundation is my go-to foundation, I've been using it for years and have yet to find a foundation I like more, preferably a cruelty free one so if you have any recommendations please let me know! The coverage of this is definitely buildable and is more coverage than the BB Creme, it's very comfortable on my skin even when it's been feeling fairly dry I can apply this foundation and I won't really have any problems with it. Only issue I have with Match Perfection foundation is that Ivory can be too dark for me and I have to switch to the lighter shade, I wouldn't mind this so much if the Porcelain shade had more of a nude undertone to it rather than a pink one, with the pink undertone it can make me look more pale than I really am but I can usually fix this with some bronzing.
Next product is... Concealers!
So for this I have a colour correcting concealer and just a general concealer for concealing (obviously, its in the name haha!) The ones I have are the MUA Pro-Base Prime and Conceal colour correcter in green, and the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in the shade fair.
The MUA colour corrector I don't use unless I'm having a bad skin day, so when I'm breaking out or you can see the redness from spots appearing or just on general redness on my nose. I tend to use this once I've applied my face primer just so the colour correcter stays longer, I love this colour corrector but it does need to be applied with a small concealer brush. (If you're looking for an alternative with an applicator I recommend the Collection Colour Correcting concealer.)
The Collection Lasting Perfection concealer is a raved about concealer so naturally I had to give it a try, as it is very affordable and the fact some beauty gurus were recommending it over high end concealers made me want to try it even more. Ever since I got it I haven't used another concealer since, it's the best concealer I've tried so far over my years of experimenting with make-up, it's full coverage and very easy to use, it blends out very nicely and is just the best lets face it haha! I got mine from Superdrug.
The next one I reach for is... Eyeliners!
I always use the MUA eyeliner in Snow White and the Avon Glimmerstick eyeliner in Blackest Black. I use the black eyeliner on my top waterline and the white one on my bottom lash line to give the illusion that my eyes are bigger and more defined. I find the white really opens up my eyes and the black defines my eyes really nicely, this has been my favourite combination to do every day for quite a while now and highly recommend both of these products.
My go-to brow products are....
George Clear Brow Gel, Freedom Brow Pomade in Ash Brown and the Revolution Focus and Fix brow kit in Medium/Dark.
When it comes to my eyebrows I don't really like to use pencil, I've always found them really difficult to use. I also have quite full brows already but I do prefer the way they look when filled in, however they do need taming because my eyebrow hairs are so long! I didn't want to spend too much money on a clear brow gel so I got this one from Asda, even though it was so cheap it definitely does its job, I highly recommend it as I always reach for it even when I try to look for new ones when I'm out shopping.
For days when I'm feeling lazy and don't feel like spending so much time on my brows or I don't want them to look too harsh, I will just use my make-up Revolution brow kit. This kit is just filled with 3 shades of powder (I tend to go for the darkest shade because my brows are fairly dark) and it literally takes me about a minute to do my eyebrows with this.
The final product I pretty much always reach for, is my eyebrow pomade from Freedom make-up. Freedom are a brand created by Tam Beauty, which is the company that also creates Make-Up Revolution products and I find that even though their products are the same quality, the Freedom products tend to be a bit cheaper! I ordered this online and have used it ever since it's honestly so good, I've had it for so long and it hasn't dried out yet and I've still got an unbelievable amount of product left in this.
Mascara's I've been reaching for have been...
The W7 ABSOLUTE Lashes mascara and the Avon True Colour Winged Lashes mascara!
I tend to use these products together, I'll curl my lashes and do one coat of the Avon mascara, wait for it to dry a bit, curl my eyelashes again and then go in with the W7 ABSOLUTE Lashes mascara! I got the W7 mascara originally because it's a dupe for the Benefit They're Real! mascara but for a much cheaper price (if you're anything like me you'd much rather go for the cheaper one), I have been using this for so long and just love the way it makes my eyelashes look. I will definitely be repurchasing in the future!
My next go to products are... Eyeshadow Palettes!
In my everyday make-up bag I keep the Revolution Eyeshadow Palettes in Flawless Matte and Beyond Flawless.
These are my favourite eyeshadow palettes to use when I'm in a rush or on the go, they fit so nicely into my make-up bag and have been using them for over a year now! The pigment of the shadows is brilliant, I picked up the Beyond Flawless one first because I loved the colours in this eyeshadow palette and I was also just starting to get back into make-up. I also picked up the Flawless Matte one the same day, because I have hooded eyes it's better for me to use matte shadows (although I hardly ever do use them) the colours in the matte palette are basically the ones in the Beyond Flawless palette so if I want to create a look using the matte shadows instead I already know which ones work well together. Highly recommend, especially if you're just starting to get into make-up or using eyeshadow.
I use a selection of powders, I use the Make Up Gallery powder in Smoothly Does It, the MUA Ultra Fine Loose Setting Powder, and the Make-Up Revolution Ultra Sculpt and Contour in either Fair or Ultra Fair.
I tend to use the make up gallery one all over my face, even though it looks pigmented I find it doesn't usually add anymore colour to my face which is perfect for me. I'll use the Revolution Sculpt and Contour kit all the time, it's perfect to use on the go and I've found I haven't needed to buy any other contour kits, this one is very good for beginners or if you're just starting out with contour.
The MUA loose setting powder, I tend to use just under my eyes while I'm doing my eyeshadow or I'll use it just to sharpen up my contour. I really love the way this feels on my skin, I don't think it gives any flashback from what I've been able to tell so I might try it all over the face as it does give a perfect finish as the powder is so fine.
False Eyelashes I always reach for are...
The famous Ardell Demi Wispies!
I've heard so many beauty gurus mention these in their videos, so of course I had to give them a go. I use the Eylure Lashfix glue as this set didn't come with the Duo lash glue so I'm still yet to try that out, if anyone has used it please let me know if it's worth trying. I love these eyelashes, I can use them every day if I want and I get so much use out of them, I really love that the band is invisible as well so they look natural on the eyes and make them so easy to apply!
And Finally.... Highlighters!
(Because who doesn't love a good highlighter)
I use the Make-Up Revolution Highlighter Palette and the highlight from their Sculpt and Contour kit.
If you've made it this far I'm truly proud of you haha! My favourite highlighter to use are these ones from Revolution, I tend to use the one in the Sculpt and Contour kit more often than the highlight palette but that doesn't mean I love them any less. I really love to play around with the 3 highlighters in the highlight palette, these are actually probably my favourite ones to use they're the perfect highlighters in my opinion, I can't even describe them in a way that does them any justice I just absolutely love them!
I hope you all enjoyed this blog post and that it wasn't too long, I'm fairly new to blogging so I'm not entirely sure what's too long and what's too short. If anyone has any tips and tricks then please let me know! Thank you for reading this if you got this far haha!
I'll see you all in my next post!
Love to You All ❤
