Books I've Read In 2017 So Far

Hey Everyone!

With autumn quickly approaching, I've come to realise that it's not actually much longer until this year is up! I set myself a goal on GoodReads to read at least three books this year, last year I didn't read that much but this year I've found so many books I've wanted to read and get my hands on.

1) Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven
I wanted to read this book after reading Jennifer Niven's other book All The Bright Places, it's fair to say this book lived up to my expectations. I loved this book and would recommend it and All The Bright Places, I will warn you they can be an emotional rollercoaster! 4.5/5

2) Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
So this book has recently been turned into a film which I'm still yet to see, the book Everything, Everything was so good in my opinion, it must've been because it was the first book I read this year in a day! I loved this book so much and highly recommend it, it's so good that even my mum has started reading it and has said how much she loves it which is a big thing because my mum can never get into books unless they're Stephen King! (I can't photograph this as my mum currently has it in her car to read in between shifts) 5/5

3) Carrie by Stephen King
Since I was on the topic of Stephen King I though I'd talk about this book next, I picked this book up in my local library and read it in about two days or so. I found this book good but I was expecting more from it seeing as Stephen King's hyped up to be the best horror writer going. I did enjoy this book but found I could get into it; I'd never watched the film so thought I'd read the book and I wanted to try out a different genre as I usually stick to YA (young adult) fiction, maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping to. 3/5

4) We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
I didn't really know what to expect from We Were Liars, this book was such an emotional rollercoaster! I seriously could not put it down. When I reached the end it was one of those "OMG I can't believe that" moments, this book and it's story stuck with me for so long (as did All The Bright Places) I can't believe how it ended, it starts off not telling you the whole story of a disaster that happens, when you do find out how it happened, prepare yourself because I was not ready for the emotions that came with this book! A definite must read though! 5/5

5) The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
So I really like reading Zoella Book Club books, however I didn't realise at the time that I picked this up and read it that it was one of the Zoella Book Club picks, after knowing that it didn't really surprise me that I enjoyed it so much. I loved every moment reading this book, yet another good choice from the Zoella Book Club! Seriously if you haven't checked out the books in this book club you seriously should, the books selected have all been amazing so far! 4.5/5

6) The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
I picked this book up when I picked up Carrie by Stephen King, I've wanted to read this pretty much since I watched the film a fair few years ago! I loved this book so much and connected to Charlie on an even more emotional level, the film's screenplay was also written by Stephen Chbosky so to find that some bits had been changed surprised me because he wrote the book and the film. I think it was his way of improving the story to his standards, the book helped me understand more bits in the film and I just loved every moment reading this, I read it in a day! 5/5

7) The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
I picked this up from my local library because after reading Everything, Everything I knew I had to read another of Nicola Yoon's books. Her writing is just amazing, I mean honestly I loved every moment. I love the way she tells the stories and I find I always get so gripped with the stories and the characters, I hope Nicola Yoon chooses to do more YA books because I loved The Sun Is Also A Star so so much! I hope she continues to write books because I've always found it hard to find an author's writing style I love until I read her books! 4.5/5

IWH Gayle Forman
8) I Was Here by Gayle Forman
This book, wow, just wow! I loved I Was Here, Gayle Forman wrote the If I Stay books, the first book of that series got turned into a film starring Chloe Grace Moretz and I loved that film so much. I got I Was Here as a Christmas or birthday present, I fell in love with the story and the characters (I know I've said it about a lot of these books in this post but it's just been a good year for reading for me apparently) once I finished this book I felt lost, I wanted to know more about the characters and follow more of their story so badly, this is another book where the story has stuck with me and highly recommend it! 5/5

I hope you enjoyed this post, I'm currently reading The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord so if you would like a review on that let me know!
Rabbit (kitten) and Universe

Sending my love,
